Lawson Adit is a portal or entryway located at the deepest point of the Britannia Mine in British Columbia, Canada. It was named after the mine manager, Alfred Lawson, who supervised the construction of the adit in the early 1900s. The purpose of the adit was to provide miners with a safe and efficient way to access the copper deposits deep within the mine. The adit is over 1.6 miles long and was hand excavated using pickaxes and other manual tools. Today, the Lawson Adit is a popular tourist attraction and is used for educational tours to learn about the history and industrial heritage of Britannia Mine.
